The house

Privacy

CAPE CULTURAL TOURS (PTY) LTD is the responsible party for a booking. We keep your name, email, mobile number, date, and party size so we can hold the departure and take payment. This site does not take card payments yet. When card payment opens, card numbers will be entered on PayFast’s own secure page, never on this site.

We do not sell that information. The contact for a question or a correction is bookings@capeculturaltours.co.za.

Notes you save in the browser stay on that device. Weather and flight pages ask public services for the place on the map. They do not send your name.

What we collect, and why

A booking request: your name, email, mobile number, date, and party size, so the house can hold the departure and record the request.

The contact form: your name, email, and the note you write. It opens in your own mail program. It is not sent through a form service on this site.

A House Network application: the kind of application, your name, email, and note, so the director can decide whether to open a door.

Staff sign-in: the email and name the Google or X account returns, and only for a person who opens the staff entrance or a house door. Guests do not sign in.

Who receives data

Only a service this site actually calls, and only for the job named:

  • Vercel, the host that serves the published site.
  • The site builder, whose script is loaded from grok.com.
  • Gmail, through the house mail program, for a booking notice and a House Network application notice sent to the house mailbox.
  • Google and X, and only when a staff member or a house key signs in. The sign-in starts at auth.grok.me.
  • Google Fonts, for the type on the page.
  • YouTube, and only after a visitor chooses to play a clip. The player uses youtube-nocookie.com.
  • The translator uses the browser’s own speech, MyMemory, and Google Translate. It does not send a house account.
  • Weather comes from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. Place names come from OpenStreetMap Nominatim.
  • The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles, Photon for search, and OSRM for a route. A Google Maps link opens only if the visitor chooses it.
  • Flight positions come from adsb.lol, and from adsb.fi if the first feed is quiet. A link to Flightradar24 opens only if the visitor chooses it. That service is not connected as a data feed.
  • PayFast, once card payment opens. It is not used for a fare, and it is not shown to a guest while live card payment is off.
  • Discover Cars, only when a guest taps Compare and book cars. The booking is completed on Discover Cars, not on this site.
  • WhatsApp, only when a guest taps the WhatsApp link.
  • Instagram, only when the house has pasted a post link and the visitor opens it.

Cross-border transfer

Some of these servers are outside South Africa. A transfer of that kind is made under section 72 of the Protection of Personal Information Act, to a recipient who is subject to a law, binding rules, or an agreement that provides a level of protection comparable to POPIA, or with your consent where the Act requires it.

How long we keep it

Booking records are kept for as long as tax law requires. The exact period is [TO CONFIRM]. A contact note and a House Network application are kept until the house has dealt with them and any legal duty to keep them has ended. [TO CONFIRM]

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Card numbers are not stored here. Staff access is decided on the server from a verified company email, not from a display name. A guest token is required before a payment is linked to a booking. This is a summary, not a promise that a breach cannot happen.

Your rights

You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask for a correction, ask for deletion where the law allows it, and object to processing where the law allows it. Write to bookings@capeculturaltours.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator at https://inforegulator.org.za.

Browser storage

House notes, and the Nearby Tourism Share switch, are stored in localStorage on your device. They are not sent to the house until you choose to share or to write. A visitor who does not sign in is not given a session cookie by the public pages. A session cookie is set only when someone signs in at the staff entrance or a house door.

The access manual is on the PAIA manual page.
